The Sense-Ability Method for Blind Dogs with Deb Bauer
The essential step-by-step program that allows your blind dog to thrive in life.
It can be an emotional time when your dog loses their vision. Whether it happens gradually or suddenly, to a young dog or a senior, it takes time for everyone in the family to adjust. It can be easy to get overwhelmed by all the changes and not knowing how to best help your dog. There is lots of advice out there, but not all advice works best for each and every dog.
It's time for the Sense-Ability Method for Blind Dogs! This is a program set up to give you all the information you need to know all in one place. I won't give you just one answer to fit all dogs. Instead, I'll take you through evaluating a variety of solutions and help you implement the best choice for your dog and situation. Setting up the environment and helping blind dogs to navigate safely is certainly on everyone's mind, so this is covered in depth as well as how to implement and use environmental, verbal, and touch cues to help your dog feel safe and confident moving around your home, yard, and on adventures with you.
Dynamics can change in relationships with other people and animals in the home and the blind dog. We will explore this and how to help everyone in the home make the transition to living with a blind dog. Blindness affects all aspects of a dog's lifestyle, so we dive into communication, daily living, play and exercise, enrichment, staying home alone, and so much more.
This program is presented to you with an extensive library of pre-recorded and written material so you can dive right into the areas you need most. But giving you information is not enough to ensure that you and your dog can successfully navigate through this transition to blindness. So I will also schedule 6 weekly zoom sessions with you, so I can help you choose and implement the parts of the program that will support you and your dog the most at that moment.
If your dog is going or has gone blind, or if you are adopting a dog that is already visually impaired and want to know how to set them up for success, the Sense-Ability Method for Blind Dogs will provide you with an easy-to-follow program with all you need to know. And, if your dog also has a hearing impairment, this program is easily adapted to that as well. I have decades of experience with both blind and deaf dogs and live with my own blind/deaf dogs, so I truly understand your needs and how to adapt the program so your dog can thrive.
I can't wait to start working with you!
